+ Do I need flood insurance?

If you live in or are purchasing property in a designated flood zone you should obtain Flood Insurance. If you are obtaining a mortgage on the property, the mortgagor will probably require you purchase flood insurance as well. Please note this is different from water-backup and sump pump failure coverage, which is the result of water backing up into the house through pipes and drains. This coverage can be easily endorsed onto a NY home insurance policy.

+ What is renters insurance? Do I have to have it?

+Am I covered if someone else is driving my car?

If your vehicle is struck by a another vehicle, the damage would be covered under the responsible party’s liability insurance. In order to expedite the repair of your vehicle you may wish to file a claim under your collision insurance.
